ABOUT US

WHO WE ARE AND WHAT WE DO

Truekrav is an independent self-defence school, that provides true combat training. Members receive physical and psychological coaching to support our primary objective: training you to survive a violent attack by a criminal or terrorist.

We teach our members how to deal with violent hand to hand situations, knife stabs and slashes, being held at knifepoint or gunpoint, handgun disarms, rifle disarms and disarming of an attacker who uses a baton, bat, stick, club, screwdriver, bottle etc. We cover rape-defence, hijacking, home invasion scenarios, as well as kidnapping and hostage situations.

We also offer combat shooting (tactical training) , where we teach our members how to use a firearm effectively under pressure.

We are constantly practising, troubleshooting, learning, improving and refining, and this is a process that all our members share in. When you train with us, you train what we train. You are free to ask questions or request to see proof of ability at any time. We learn by doing and we offer you what we know. It’s as simple as that.

What sets our instructors apart from other self-defence instructors?

Truekrav instructors are a cut above the rest as a result of intense training, high standards, and annual assessment.

The Instructor Course is by invitation only, and potential instructors are thoroughly vetted. Acceptance criteria includes:

  • A minimum of two years’ training with Truekrav prior to instructor training; and,
  • Proficient combat shooting skills.

Instructor training begins with a “proof of skill” phase, where potential instructors must demonstrate their skill under pressure.

Following proof of skill, the candidates undergo physical selection. The physical selection has a drop-out rate of 70%, and candidates that do not pass the selection are not allowed to continue with the instructor training and must start again at the beginning of the course.

Candidates that pass the physical selection are then taught how to instruct according to the Truekrav way.

This is followed by a 4-month apprenticeship and, finally, they must a pass an instructor test to qualify as a Truekrav Instructor.

All Truekrav Instructors remain current by being able to pass the Truekrav selection criteria on an annual basis. No other Krav Maga school requires such high standards from their instructors. It’s the Truekrav way. Period.
